Gastro-Cinema: In pursuit of delicious movies...

The world of cinema, and gastro-reality are inseparable things. The reason is not only that the movie heroes are same, like us, of flesh and blood. In conclusion to above mentioned, we can add popcorn and cola, two important parts of cinema. All this and much more, are irrefutable proof that the bond movie+food is a strong as steel. However, this article is not about that. Today we will talk about a very tasty genre of film art, an informal name of which is gastro-cinema. Each of us has a dream at least once to go behind the scenes of the restaurant world, watch out for a bitter and often invisible work of chefs and service professionals. Cinema gives us that opportunity. Reservin presents a top-end five gastronomic masterpieces of cinema. 



1. Julie & Julia, USA, 2009

Directed by Nora Ephron

2. Comme un chef, France, Spain, 2012

Curvy gastro-comedy from the irrepressible French. Young cook is trying all possible ways to change the foundations of life and preferences and experienced stellar chef. Perseverance and labor of a young man leads him on the Olympus of local cuisine.



3. No reservation, USA, 2007

Starring Catherine Zeta-Jones, Aaron Echart

Hollywood, more colorful remake of the German comedy "The Irresistible Martha”. The life of a top chef changes when she becomes the guardian of her young niece.



4․ A Chef in Love, France, 1996 

Directed by Nana Dzordzhadze

Starring: Nino Kirtadze, Pierre Richard, Micheline Presle

The story of Pascal Ichak, a larger-than-life French traveller, bon vivant, and chef, who falls in love with Georgia and a Georgian princess in the early 1920s. All is well until the arrival of the Red Army of the Caucasus, as the Soviet revolution that has swept Russian comes to Georgia. Told as a flashback from the present, as a French-Georgian man whose mother was Pascal's lover translates his memoirs for Pascal's niece.




5. The Hundred-Foot Journey, USA, UAE, India, 2014 

Directed by Lasse Hallström

Starring Hellen Mirren, Om Puri, Manish Dayal

Gastronomic comedy drama, which centers on a thrilling collision of the Indian and French cuisine, traditional and innovative gastro-reality. The film is inspired by the sharp quotes and mouth-watering dishes. The Kadam family leaves India for France where they open a restaurant directly across the road from Madame Mallory's Michelin-starred eatery.
